Yearning for Yesteryear

Lost a lot of respect for Modders over how he's handling his wanting to leave Spurs.  Some points that have made him Soooooo beloved by the sport fan who just can't get enough of mondern day athletic greed.
  • Reneging on a multi-year contract one year after signing it is always going to endear you to the fans that have been patient during your slow adaptation to English footy and long spell injuries.
  • Purposely naming a single team as your preferred destination really gives your current club a lot of bargaining power, if getting what you want is the name of your game.
  • Saying you wont hand in a transfer request because it's "disrespectful" then whining about an argument with the chairman after forcing his hand. Complaining that a so called gentleman's agreement, that in my eyes you broke by stating your preferred destination to the media in first place.  Then handing in that disrespectful transfer request a week or 2 later.
  • Waiting til just 2 or 3 weeks back to begin this soap opera.
Maybe I'm just out of touch.   Or maybe this isn't as a wise man once said "Buddies".

I actually wouldn't mind seeing this little weasel benched for the year as a lesson to all like minded euro players.  Probably wont happen.

I really don't fault him for his wanting to leave.  It's his career.  There's just classier ways of going about it, I think.

This is coming from a fan who has followed him since he broke onto the scene with the Croatian national team 5 years ago and defended his playing style against people critical of his lack of goals and assists.

  2. Loyalty is dead with the dodo. Does character, class and digity have to go down the toilet with it.
